Miranda Reinson is originally from Hillsborough, New Jersey. She currently in her last months as a senior at the University of Delaware on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Conservation on May 30! She has been looking into attending Graduate school in the near future to further her education in wildlife conservation.

Every summer over the four years at the University of Delaware, Miranda has been working towards gaining experience in the wildlife field. The summer of 2014, she spent three months conducting secretive marsh bird surveys on the coast of New Jersey, specifically looking for different rail species (Rallidae).

Earlier in 2014, she went on a study abroad trip to Tanzania, Africa and was there for a month.  The program had her  spend most of her time on game drives and immersed with the local people. She visited several national parks, such as Tarangire, Arusha, and the Ngorongoro Crater, where we learned about conservation of African wildlife and community-based conservation.

Miranda also spent most of the nights camping with the native people and learning about the different cultures and ways of life in Tanzania. (Massai, Iraqw, and Hadzabe).

In the summer of 2013 she interned at Tri-state bird rescue and research rehabbing wild birds for release back into the wild and volunteered during the summer of 2012 at the Philadelphia Zoo.

Miranda says, “I am super excited to be apart of this internship program because I dedicate my drive and motivation for wildlife all to Giant Pandas. I am extremely excited to visit China because I have wanted to go for many years to specifically help aid in Giant Panda conservation. I cannot wait to share my experience with all of you and a big thank you to Meghan Martin and the whole PDXWildlife team for having me!”
